Kitchen Design Consultation

This is a 90-minute in-home working session focused on planning your kitchen renovation before construction begins. During our time together, we’ll review your completed intake questionnaire, walk through your existing kitchen, and talk through what’s not working, what you want to improve, and what’s possible within your space and budget.
I’ll take basic measurements, photos, and notes to understand layout constraints, circulation, storage, lighting, and overall flow. This session is designed to give you clarity and direction before you start making costly decisions — and it’s also your opportunity to decide if I’m the right designer to guide your project.

What to expect

  1. Kitchen goals & requirements review: We’ll start by discussing how you currently use your kitchen, what’s frustrating about it, and what you want the new space to do better. This includes storage needs, cooking habits, entertaining, family use, and any must-haves or deal-breakers.
  2. Layout & design direction (conceptual): We’ll talk through layout opportunities, functional improvements, and overall design direction at a high level — how the kitchen could work better, feel more open, or connect more seamlessly to adjacent spaces. This is not final design, but strategic direction that informs all future decisions.
  3. On-site evaluation: I’ll assess the physical space, including existing layout, structural constraints, mechanical considerations, and architectural features that will impact the renovation. This helps identify potential challenges early, when they are easiest (and cheapest) to address.
  4. Budget alignment & priorities: We’ll have an honest conversation about budget, priorities, and where to spend versus save. This allows me to tailor recommendations that are realistic and aligned with the level of investment you’re comfortable making.
  5. Design process overview: I’ll walk you through how I approach kitchen projects — from design development and selections to documentation and construction support, so you understand what happens after the consultation and how the project moves forward.
  6. Open Q&A: You’ll have space to ask questions about the process, timing, coordination with contractors, or anything else you want clarity on. My goal is for you to leave feeling informed and confident about your next step.

Next Steps

Within 3 business days of our consultation, you’ll receive:

  1. A written summary of what we discussed
  2. A detailed Statement of Work (SOW) outlining scope, deliverables, and fees
  3. Clear next steps if you’d like to proceed with design services
